Young Girl Hit By Minivan In Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a young girl was hit by a minivan in Chatham Tuesday morning.

Police say the girl was struck by the black minivan around 9am, at the intersection of Sandys St. and McNaughton Ave.

The driver of the vehicle is unknown, however, an eyewitness claims the man behind the wheel was older with grey hair. Police say the driver stopped to check on the girl, but since there were no injuries, they both left the scene without calling police.

Police say the girl's family has confirmed that she is okay.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
