Hammer Throwing, Vodka Pouring Assault

A Chatham couple has been charged after they allegedly assaulted each other.

Police say a woman was driving on Sunday around 6pm when a man poured vodka on her and pulled the keys out of the ignition. They got out of the vehicle and began arguing when the man pushed the woman to the ground and struck her.

The woman then threw a hammer at the man, but missed him. However, once she caught up to him, she began kicking him repeatedly.

They both suffered minor injuries.

The 34-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of assault.

The 31-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
