Live-Saving CPR Techniques

In honour of Chatham-Kent's "Paramedic Week," EMS crews are hosting several CPR simulations for the public.

One of the events was held at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre on Monday, where paramedics gave hands-on CPR training and demonstrations.

Assistant Chief Scott Ramey says learning CPR could save a life.

"If we could show people how to do something to save a life and assist the paramedics on scene then that's what we're trying to offer. So we want people to come by and meet the paramedics, maybe learn how to do hands-only chest compressions and  learn about getting more training in first-aid and CPR," says Ramey.

Ramey says anyone can learn CPR, even without a medical background.

"At least learn how to do chest compressions, hands-only CPR chest compressions only is enough to keep someone alive until the ambulance gets there," explains the assistant chief.

The next demonstration will be held at the Civic Centre Wednesday from 9am to 1pm.
