CK Community Help Leads To Crash Arrest

Police have arrested a Glencoe man in connection to a store front crash in Ridgetown.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at his home at 2am on Tuesday and charged with several offences including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, driving while under suspension, careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Investigators say the suspect allegedly went to an acquaintance's home in Bothwell early in the morning on May 23 and stole their unplated Cadillac, before driving to Ridgetown where he lost control and crashed into Bailey Saddlery on Main St. and Albert Ave.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

Chatham-Kent police want to thank the community and a witness for helping identify the man who fled the area before officers arrived.
