UPDATE: Child Critical After Fall Into Backyard Pool

A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after falling into backyard pool in Tecumseh.

At around 7:30pm on Tuesday, Tecumseh OPP, Tecumseh Fire and Rescue, and EMS responded to the residence on Dresden Place near Tecumseh Rd.  The boy was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition and was later transferred to the Children's Hospital of Michigan where he remains.

The Ontario Provincial Police previously provided incorrect information stating that the boy had been pronounced dead, due to a mix up with a similar incident.

"Unfortunately a second young boy attended the Children's Hospital of Michigan under very similar circumstances last evening, and the status regarding the two boys was misinterpreted," stated the OPP a news release. "The OPP wish to apologize for the misunderstanding and our prayers are with the family."

No further information is available at this time.
