Fire Spreads From Truck To House

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services are looking into a vehicle fire that extended to a nearby house.

Fire crews responded to the fire on Gordon St. in Wallaceburg around 5am Thursday.

Once they arrived, fire officials say there was a pickup truck parked in the driveway "fully engulfed in flames." The flames grew and eventually caught onto the house where flames spread into the attic.

It didn't take long before the fire was extinguished, preventing further damage to the house.

No injuries were reported.

Damage is pegged at $70,000. A cause for the fire has yet to be determined.

Firefighters will visit the area on Friday as part of their "After the Fire - Reassurance Campaign" to check smoke alarms and answer questions.
