Hydro One Customers Charged Up Over Possible Rate Hike

The Ontario Energy Board will hold a meeting in Leamington Thursday night to discuss Hydro One's application to increase distribution rates.

It's at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreational Complex, Locker Room Lounge at 6:30pm.

If approved, Hydro One delivery charges would jump by as much as $2.79 a month from 2018 to 2022 to maintain poles and wires.

Hydro One has also applied for new service charges and adjustments to many of its services, including increases for the collection of accounts, for disconnection and reconnection of service.

Many people have already written letters of complaint saying the hike is unaffordable and rates are out of control.

Ontarians are paying the highest electricity rates in Canada and most of a person's bill is delivery charges and not usage.

There are no other meetings set for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex or Sarnia-Lambton.
