The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Ride to help the Ontario Special Olympics is coming to Chatham-Kent.
It starts at Duke’s Harley Davidson in Blenheim on Sunday at 10am.
Kelly Helbin, Chatham-Kent police media officer , says the ride goes through the most scenic routes of Chatham-Kent, along both Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair.
"Open to the public, yes. This is for all motorcycle enthusiasts. The Law Enforcement Torch Ride is a provincial fund raising program directly benefiting over 23,000 Special Olympic Ontario athletes," says Helbin.
Riders will have a BBQ at the Imperial Club in Chatham after the ride.
Helbin says anyone can donate without riding.
"Anyone who has a motorcycle or a motorcycle available to them can participate. It's a very low registration fee and all of the funds go to the Special Olympics," Helbin says.
Helbin says it's a great cause and gives officers a chance to show they have heart.
"We can showcase a lot of things that we participate in, for instance the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Torch Ride. It just breaks down those barriers between our community and the officers serving this community," says Helbin.
