Richmond St. Construction Begins

Construction on Richmond St. in Chatham is now underway and will continue until late this fall.

According to the municipality's Engineering and Transportation Division, a key part of the project is the widening of the road to add a continuous left-hand turn lane from Bloomfield Rd. to Keil Dr.

The project also includes removal and replacement of the roadway, the installation of additional curbs and gutters, improvements to bike lanes, driveway and boulevard restoration, and traffic signal and intersection improvement.

The municipality says the four-lane road will be reduced to two lanes during the construction -- one in each direction.

The road work should wrap up around November.

No CK Transit bus routes will be impacted by the construction at this point.
