Charges Laid After Vehicle Veers Into Oncoming Traffic

A 52-year-old Windsor man has been charged after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent OPP say they were called to Grande Ave. E on Tuesday around 2:43am, after a vehicle in the wrong lane was almost involved in a head-on collision.

Police say when the vehicle was pulled over, officers suspected the driver of being under the influence. The driver was taken to the local OPP detachment for tests.

As a result, the Windsor man has been charged with impaired driving and driving a vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in the blood. The 52-year-old is set to appear in court on August 16.
