Driver Caught Speeding In Construction Zone

One person has been slapped with a $700 fine for speeding in a construction zone on Hwy. 401.

Chatham-Kent OPP say an officer was out on the highway near Charing Cross Rd., around noon on Friday.

Police say the radar registered an eastbound vehicle going 125 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.

As per the recent changes to the Highway Traffic Act, fines for speeding in a construction zone when workers are present are now doubled.

The OPP are reminding drivers that they are on the look-out for drivers who speed, are distracted, not wearing a seatbelt, or driving impaired.
