Flood Outlook Advisory Over In CK And Elgin County

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has ended the flood outlook advisory for Chatham-Kent and Elgin County.

The advisory was issued Sunday afternoon due to strong winds in the weekend forecast that had the potential to cause high waves on Lake Erie and potential flooding in the area.

After a review of the conditions, Water Management Supervisor Jason Wintermute says the flood outlook advisory has been called off.

"The staff went out [Tuesday] afternoon and while there's some water getting into people's yards, it wasn't a significant amount at that time. Nobody has reported anything more serious since," explains Wintermute.

Wintermute says flood outlooks are based on forecasts, rather than actual conditions.

"The weather forecasts at the time that it was issued were calling for winds early enough in the morning that we felt the need to tell people the evening before," says Wintermute.

More information on flood outlook advisories can be found on the conservation authority's website.
