United Way's Operation Backpacks Receives $1,000 Donation

A local organization has donated $1,000 to United Way of Chatham-Kent's Operation Backpacks campaign.

Community Living Chatham-Kent raised over $8,700 at its annual Food Crawl event in July and decided to donate $1,000 of the proceeds to United Way's campaign.

Operation Backpacks is a program that has been running in Chatham-Kent since 2001 and is devoted to making sure every child has a backpack and supplies to take to school.

In a news release, officials at Community Living says they "hope children receiving the supplies will be able to fulfill our vision of discovering dreams and connecting lives."
