Maroons Blanked by Caledonia 5-0

The Chatham Maroons hope to put this past weekend behind them.

Over the course of the two games the Maroons played at the 2017 GOJHL Showcase in Brantford, Chatham was outscored 13-6, including a 5-0 shutout loss to the Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs Sunday afternoon at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. The Maroons are 0-2 thus far for the regular season.

Kyle Droge struggled again in goal for Chatham, saving 29 shots but allowing all five Caledonia goals.

Matt Weston and Griffin Roubos scored for the Corvairs in the first period. Caledonia put two more pucks in the net with Jamey Lauzon and Adam Craievich with the goals. The Corvairs continued sharing the wealth in the third period as Joshua DeFarias scored the period's lone goal.

Brandon McCorriston stopped all 28 Maroons shots in net for Caledonia. The Maroons picked up 17 penalty minutes in the game while the Corvairs had 26.

The Maroons will try to bounce back as their home season begins. The Komoka Kings visit Memorial Arena on Sunday, September 17. Puck drop is at 7pm and all the action can be heard on CFCO Country 92.9FM/AM630.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
