Dog Fighting Co-Accused Set To Appear In Court

Two men who are facing charges in connection with an alleged dog fighting ring in the Tilbury-area are scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Co-accused John Robert and Michel Gagnon were scheduled to appear at the Chatham-Kent courthouse at 10am for a hearing to set a trial date. However, defence lawyer Ken Marley tells Blackburn News the co-accused will not be present for Monday hearing.

Robert and Gagnon were both excused from their previously scheduled court date, which was a preliminary hearing.

The co-accused are the only two people still facing charges.

Four people were initially arrested in connection with the case, but charges against Kim Robert and John Robert Jr. were later withdrawn.

Robert Tomlin and Candice Johnson were also charged in connection with the case as the investigation continued, but the charges against Johnson were later dropped.

Tomlin pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge in August and was sentenced to four months house arrest.
