Lake Erie Shoreline Could Flood On Saturday

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is warning about possible flooding along the Lake Erie shoreline.

Environment Canada is calling for strong winds on Lake Erie from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. The LTVCA says the high winds will be driving the waves onto the shoreline across Chatham-Kent.

The conservation authority says the predicted wind speeds and wave heights are similar to those that caused flooding and shoreline damage earlier this year along Erie Shore Dr. in Chatham-Kent. Officials are urging people to avoid the shoreline because it can be slippery. Pets and livestock should also be kept away from the shore.

The warning is in effect until Monday.
