Spits Fall 4-3 To Greyhounds In OT

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a 4-3 decision to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in overtime on Thursday.

It was a back and forth game, with the Greyhounds taking the lead with a goal just under nine minutes into the first period, and Aaron Luchuk scoring to tie things up for Windsor after 12:56.

Luchuk scored his second of the night to put Windsor on top 13:05 into the second, but Sault Ste. Marie tied the game once again with a goal just over a minute later.

The third period was more of the same, with Mathew MacDougall scoring to give Windsor the lead after six minutes, and the Soo getting a goal late in the frame to force overtime.

Tim Gettinger scored the game winner for the Greyhounds 1:58 into the extra period.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 34 saves out of 38 shots on net.

The Spitfires head to Guelph on Friday to take on the Storm. The puck drops at 7:30pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
