Break-In Suspect To Face The Music

A 40-year-old Chatham man accused of dozens of break and enters will go to trial sometime next year.

Michael Brown was originally charged with 53 counts of break and enter and possession of stolen property, but five charges have been either dismissed or withdrawn.

He still faces 48 counts and a trial date will be set November 20 at 10am.

Assistant Crown attorney Fred Creed says the Superior Court trial could take anywhere from two to six weeks.

Victims and police took the stand on Wednesday during discovery and cross examination.

Brown is accused of breaking into homes and stealing items worth hundreds of thousands of dollars during a three-year period.
