Spits Top Knights 3-1 On Banner Raising Night

The London Knights dropped a 3-1 decision to Windsor on Thursday, the same night the Spitfres raised their Memorial Cup banner at the WFCU Centre.

London kicked off the game with a goal by Harrison Cottam 11:19 into the first period, but Aaron Luchuk scored for Windsor early in the second to tie things up.

In the final frame, Luchuk scored his second of the night with five minutes left in the game to put the Spitfires in the lead.  Cole Purboo added another unanswered goal in the final minute to ensure the win for Windsor.

Spitfires goaltender Michael DiPietro made 28 saves for Windsor, and Knights goalie Tyler Johnson made 30.

Windsor and London face off again on Friday at Budweiser Gardens. Puck drop is at 7:30pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
