CK Celebrates Affordable Housing Builders

Local businessmen are being recognized for their efforts to build affordable multi-unit housing in Chatham-Kent.

Nasr Nasr from Remmcor Ltd. and Tim Zavitz from TEMPO Property Management were announced as the latest recipients of the muncipality's Feature Act recognition program at Monday night's council meeting.

Nasr is being celebrated for the affordable units he designed at 20 Wedgewood Ave. in Chatham. Nasr creates his units with a focus on energy efficiency to lower bills for residents. He has also made his units as move-in ready as possible, with large California closets so that residents do not have to carry in heavy furniture like dressers.

Like Nasr, Zavitz also strives to make his units at 86 Pine St. in Chatham as energy efficient as possible. He even installed heated floors in his dwellings so that residents will not have to use as much energy to heat their space. He also recognizes the importance of privacy for residents, so he builds additional bathrooms for multi-tenant units.

Zavitz has created indoor bike storage units for his dwellings to protect residents against theft. He believes affordable housing is the key to creating a healthy community.

A news release from the Chatham-Kent Community Leaders Cabinet commends both men for "their commitment to building high quality housing that any tenant would be proud to call home."

Feature Act is a recognition program created by the Chatham-Kent Community Leaders’ Cabinet in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce and the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce, which celebrates individuals and groups that strive to build a better community.
