OPP Stop Alleged Drunk Driver On Hwy. 401

A 48-year-old Tecumseh man faces charges after the Ontario Provincial Police stopped an alleged drunk driver on Hwy. 401.

Police officers in Chatham-Kent were monitoring traffic on the highway with the use of a radar around 3:30pm Saturday, when they spotted a vehicle going more than 140 km/hr.

After stopping the driver, officers found out the driver had allegedly been drinking, so they took him back to the detachment for more testing.

The man is now charged with driving with having a blood-alcohol level of more than 80 mg. He will appear in court next month.

Police are warning drivers they are actively looking for drivers who engage in what they call the "Big 4" driving behaviours; drunk driving, speeding, distracted driving, and not wearing a seat belt.
