Residents Want More Activities In Walpole Island And Wallaceburg

A new survey has found there's overwhelming support for more health and recreational activities in the Walpole Island, Wallaceburg and surrounding areas.

Southwestern Ontario YMCA Business Development Senior Manager Sean Dillon says the study also indicates a willingness to pay for memberships and take part in programs.

"The market study really provides us with the data that we'll analyze to determine what are the right programs and what are the right facilities needed to support those programs," says Dillon. "We will also have to identify funding sources for capital construction of any proposed facility."

One proposal is to expand the Walpole Island Arena to include a YMCA operated community Health, Recreation and Fitness Centre.
