Crash Leads To Several Charges Against Toronto Man

Drug possession and careless driving are only a couple of charges a Toronto driver is facing following a crash on Hwy. 401.

Police say they found a vehicle in the centre median on January 3, near Charing Cross Rd.

Officers followed footprints away from the scene and found the driver, a 29-year-old male, and the passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Barrie.

It's alleged officers could smell marijuana while speaking with the driver.

The Toronto man faces the following charges:

- Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams

- Three counts of failing to comply with recognizance

- Obstructing a peace officer

- Driving while under suspension

- Careless driving

Meanwhile, the passenger has been charged with possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams.

She's set to appear in court February 22, while the driver was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
