Woman Hospitalized After Vehicle Crashes Into Ditch

A 33-year-old woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle crashed into a water-filled ditch southwest of Chatham Tuesday night.

Police say the crash happened on 5th Line near Dillon Rd. at around 8:30pm Tuesday.

Investigators say the 67-year-old man who was driving the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle safely, but he couldn't free his 33-year-old daughter, who was trapped inside. Emergency crews were able to pull her out of the vehicle once it was towed out of the ditch. She was then rushed to the hospital in Chatham where she's still receiving treatment.

The crash is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Randy Whittaker at randyw@chatham-kent.ca or at 519-355-1092.
