UPDATE: Hwy. 401 Reopened In Chatham

Police have reopened the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 in Chatham following multiple collisions.

The Ontario Provincial Police reported a crash at Bloomfield Rd. at around 5pm on Monday, which closed the westbound lanes for around three hours. Another crash in the same area closed the westbound lanes again between 10:30pm and 11:30pm.

Chatham-Kent OPP are urging drivers to slow down after responding to six weather-related crashes in two hours on Monday afternoon.

The OPP say snow is making for poor road conditions. They also say driving too fast for road conditions is the number one cause of winter collisions.

Police officials urge drivers to allow extra time to get to and from their destination.
