Walpole Island Woman Arrested After Police Led On Wild Ride

A 26-year-old Walpole Island woman has been arrested after a wild ride through several counties east of Chatham-Kent.

The OPP say sometime early Monday morning, a tractor trailer was stolen from Wallaceburg. The trailer was later found abandoned by Chatham-Kent police. The truck, equipped with a GPS monitoring system, was tracked by police through several counties.

Eventually, police say a woman got out of the truck in Zorra Township in Oxford County. She was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.

The truck continued on into eastern Oxford County until it went off the road near Drumbo. Two men ran from the scene. One male suspect was arrested shortly after with the help of an OPP helicopter, canine unit, and emergency response team. The second male was arrested in the Drumbo area on Tuesday.

The investigation continues and charges are pending against the two male suspects.
