Busy Month For SPCA Agents

So far, so good.

Sarnia SPCA agents investigating animal cruelty or neglect locally are keeping up with demand since expanding their territory to include the Municipality of Chatham-Kent on January 1.

Support Services Manager Nicole King says the area is being covered by two full-time agents.

"Their office is here at the Sarnia Humane Society," says King. "But, they're kind of back and forth. One of our agents does actually reside in Chatham, so he is kind of back and forth all the time, same as our other agent, but it does depend on where the calls come in and they just travel around all day."

King says they had 47 investigations in January. 31 in Sarnia-Lambton and 16 in Chatham-Kent.

She says most of their calls over the winter are from people concerned about animals being left outside, usually in harsh conditions.
