Maroons Fall 5-2 To Rockets

The Chatham Maroons dropped a 5-2 decision to the Strathroy Rockets on Tuesday.

The Rockets jumped ahead by scoring the only goal of the first period, but Aaron Jacobs scored for Chatham 12:40 into the second to tie the game. However, Strathroy ended the frame with a 2-1 lead after scoring just under two minutes later.

The Rockets scored two back-to-back goals in the first half of the third, and Josh King scored for Chatham after 15:36 to make it 4-2. Strathroy added one more unanswered goal in the final minutes of the game to cap off their win.

Despite the loss, Chatham outshot the Rockets 43-39.

The Maroons return home on Thursday to take on the St. Marys Lincolns at 7pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
