OPP Officer Struck By Vehicle

A provincial police officer had to be taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Hwy. 401 in Chatham.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Wednesday around 9:45am, officers were investigating a separate collision on the highway near Merlin Rd. when a westbound vehicle lost control, entered the ditch and hit the officer.

The officer was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the crash, a 49-year-old New Hamburg man has been charged with careless driving.

The highway was temporarily closed while the OPP conducted an investigation and to allow for removal of the vehicle.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
