Canada Wins Its First Medals in Pyeongchang

Canada picked up its first hardware of the 2018 Winter Olympics Sunday.

Snowboarder Max Parrot won the silver medal in the men's slopestyle event at the Games in South Korea. Teammate Mark McMorris took the bronze medal.

The gold medal winner in the event is Redmond Gerard of the United States.

Parrot, 23, from Cowansville, Quebec, had pulled off a stunning third run at Phoenix Park to finish in second with 86 points even. His first two runs were in the mid to upper 40s.

McMorris won his second straight bronze medal in this event. The 24-year-old from Regina took third four years ago in Sochi, Russia.

McMorris had been leading the 2018 event after two runs before stumbling a little on the third run.
