Cab Driver Assaulted In Chatham

Chatham-Kent police say they're looking for a suspect after someone assaulted a cab driver in Chatham Sunday morning.

Police say the driver from Courtesy Cab picked up a man at the bus shelter on Pine St. at around 6am Sunday and was approaching the intersection of Eugenie St. and John St. when the man told the driver to stop. At that point, the man assaulted the driver and demanded money.

Investigators say when the man didn't get any money from the cab driver, he ran off down John St. towards Tweedsmuir Ave.

The suspect is described as a 40-50-year-old white male, 5'10" tall, around 180 lbs, with a scruffy beard. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured two-piece track suit.

The cab driver only reported minor injuries and was treated by EMS.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
