Clocks Spring Ahead This Weekend

Before you head to bed tonight, don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour.

The clocks jump ahead an hour at 2am Sunday, March 11 for Daylight Saving Time, which means you might want to hit the hay an hour early if you don't want to lose an hour of sleep.

While you're turning your clocks ahead, it's also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and to make sure they're up to date. Fire officials say both battery-operated and hardwired alarms expire, adding that alarms over 10 years old need to be replaced.

Working smoke alarms are required, by law, to be installed on every storey of the home and outside of all sleeping areas. Carbon monoxide alarms must also be installed outside all sleeping areas if your home has a fuel-burning appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage.
