Minister Del Duca Bringing Cheque Book To Area

The provincial Minister of Economic Development and Growth will be in Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex on Thursday to make a series of funding announcements.

Steven Del Duca's staff say he will be at Dana Canada in Chatham at 3pm for a significant funding announcement and then he'll sit down for a Chatham roundtable discussion.

"The province is providing funding for ten regional companies," a staff email to Blackburn News says.

The minister will start the day in downtown Windsor at Ouellette Ave. and Park St. E. for a street revitalization announcement at 9am. Del Duca will then tour Laval International in Maidstone, attend a Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce roundtable, and a town hall with University of Windsor students.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund gives money to businesses, municipalities and not-for-profit organizations for economic development in southwestern Ontario. The fund supports projects that create jobs, encourage innovation, collaboration and cluster development and attract private sector investment.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
