Lights Out For Earth Hour

It's that time of year where residents are once again being asked to flick off the lights for an hour.

Earth hour is on Saturday from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. The soon to be merged power companies, Entegrus and St. Thomas Energy, are encouraging people to participate.

"Both companies regularly offer energy conservation programs in cooperation with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for residential and commercial customers to help promote conservation as a way of life, and to help lower their energy usage to lessen the impact on our planet," as stated in a media release sent by Entegrus.

People are also encouraged to post about their commitment to energy conservation by using the hashtag #Connect2earth. The annual initiative has been adopted by several countries around the world.
