Serious Crash Sends Wheatley Senior To Hospital

Chatham-Kent police say a 78-year-old man is being treated for serious injuries in a Windsor hospital after he was hit by a car in Wheatley.

Police say the man was walking across Erie St. S. between Moore St. and Lamarsh St. at around 11pm Tuesday when he was hit.

Officers say the person who was driving the vehicle that hit him, also a 78-year-old Wheatley man, stopped immediately to help.

The man who was hit was rushed to a hospital in Windsor for medical attention.

Police say the crash is still under investigation and they're appealing to the public for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who has information is asked to contact Constable Randy Whittaker at randyw@chatham-kent.ca or 519-355-1092.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
