Chatham Man Gets Pepper-Sprayed

Mischief and resisting arrest charges have been laid against a Chatham man.

Police say the 39-year-old man went to a family member’s home in Chatham Wednesday afternoon, became irate and allegedly damaged a gate in the backyard.

Investigators say the aggressive man failed to comply with the officers’ directions when they showed up and allegedly began to fight with them as he was being placed under arrest.

The officers had to use pepper spray to get him under control.
