UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Ended

It was a wet and windy evening for the local region.

Environment Canada has downgraded a severe thunderstorm warning to a watch for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex with frequent lightning and very heavy downpours expected Wednesday evening and into early Thursday morning. A warning was briefly issued for Sarnia-Lambton.

The weather agency says a line of strong to severe thunderstorms over Southeastern Lower Michigan is expected to move into Essex County between 11:15pm and 11:30pm, before moving towards Chatham-Kent around midnight.

The storm is also expected to bring wind gusts of up to 90-100 km/h.

Residents are advised that visibility may suddenly be reduced to less than 250 metres during the downpour, and can also cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
