UPDATE: Dresden Shooting Victim Survives

A shooting victim at the Dresden Raceway is out of surgery and expected to recover.

Police say a 58-year-old man was found with a non-life threatening gunshot wound on Saturday shortly before 11pm.

They say the victim had successful surgery at the London Health Sciences Centre and is expected to return home in the near future.

Police say they have no reason to believe that there are any immediate public safety concerns and don’t believe that this shooting was accidental.

However, they're not saying if the victim was targeted, if it was a dispute, if they have anyone in custody, if the victim has identified the suspect or if a weapon has been recovered.

Police remain on scene and continue investigating.

They're thanking the public for being very understanding Saturday night when they had to be evacuated from the Casino.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact  Detective Constable Shawn Tremblay at shawnt@chatham-kent.ca or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
