A Handful Of People Jump In The Race For CK Council

A few familiar people within the community have filed their papers in hopes of keeping their seats on Chatham-Kent council.

The second week for residents to file nomination papers for the upcoming municipal election has ended. The deadline to file is July 27.

Here is a list of candidates who filed their papers this week:

Ward 1 - West Kent

  • Mark Authier (current councillor)
  • Bryon Fluker (current councillor)
Ward 3 - East Kent
  • Steve Pinsonneault (current councillor)
Ward 6 - Chatham
  • Doug Sulman (current councillor)
  • Drew Simpson
Regarding other municipal positions, John Van Heck has filed his papers for the position of trustee.

There were no bids from residents to run for mayor this week.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
