Significant Rainfall In Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex

Residents living in Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex should be prepared for another soaking over the next couple of days.

Environment Canada is warning of "significant rainfall" in the extreme southwestern Ontario during the day Monday and Monday night with showers and isolated thunderstorms expected.

While most areas can expect about 5-10 mm of rain throughout the day, the weather agency is cautioning that local rainfall amounts of 15-25 mm are possible in areas that experience thunderstorms.

There is expected to be a break late Monday afternoon, but the wet weather is expected to pick up again overnight with another 15-25 mm of rain expected.

Forecasters say total rainfall amounts of 50 mm or more are possible in areas that experience a thunderstorm or two before Tuesday.

Drivers should watch out for deep puddles and standing water on the road as well as poor visibility during heavy downpours.

A flood watch is still in effect for Chatham-Kent and a rainfall warning may be issued Monday.
