Traffic Stop Leads To Weapon & Drug Charges

A Chatham man is in trouble with police after officers found shotgun parts and drugs during a traffic stop.

Chatham-Kent police stopped a vehicle on Longwoods Rd. just before midnight on Monday.

The driver was arrested for breaking his curfew, and a search of him and his vehicle turned up heroin, cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cash, and three separate parts of a disassembled shotgun.

The driver was under a prohibition order not to possess any firearms.

A 32-year-old is now charged with five weapons-related offences, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and three counts of failing to comply.
