Dangerous Driving, Racing On Hwy. 401

A 24-year-old Florida man's joy ride on the Hwy. 401 came to an abrupt halt recently when Chatham-Kent OPP pulled him over for speeding.

Police say they caught up with his vehicle at around 7:30pm Monday after allegedly recording it going more than 170km/h on the Hwy. 401 near Bloomfield Rd.

Officers say the man is also accused of using the on and off ramps and the shoulder of the highway to pass other drivers.

Police say he is now charged with dangerous driving and stunt driving as a result of their investigation.

His driver's licence has been suspended and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days. He is also scheduled to appear in court next month to answer to the charges.
