Man Charged For High Speed Driving In CK

A man with a need for speed won't be driving anytime soon after police say he was caught racing on Hwy. 401.

Police say on Sunday at around 10:15pm, an OPP officer noticed a westbound vehicle speeding in the construction zone on Hwy. 401 near Orford Rd. in Chatham-Kent. The officer's RADAR gun showed the vehicle was driving over 160 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

A 40-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with the following offences:

  • Failure to notify police of a changed address
  • Racing a motor vehicle
  • Failure to surrender vehicle permit and insurance card
He will appear in Ontario Court of Justice on June 17.

The driver's licence has been suspended and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
