IPM Looking To Set World Records

Want to be a part of a world record during the International Plowing Match in Chatham-Kent this fall?

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help them attempt to break at least three Guinness World Records during the IPM in Pain Court, September 18-22, 2018.

A meeting will be held this Thursday, June 14 at 7pm, at Immaculate Conception Hall in Pain Court, for anyone who is interested in being a part of the record-breaking attempts.

"We are looking for people who want to participate as well as some folks who want to take a leadership role in setting a specific record," said Ellwood Shreve, chair of the World Records committee.

The records they are planning on breaking are for longest skewer of vegetables, largest container of popcorn, and largest smoothie.

Plans are also being finalized to have celebrity chef Bob Blumer set another world record during the IPM. The details for that are still being worked out, but volunteers will also be needed.

Shreve says they also want to get as many people as possible eating corn on the cob simultaneously, and challenge all future communities that host the IPM to try to beat that number.
