Horses Killed In Wellington County Barn Fire

An early-morning barn fire north of the village of Erin has killed six horses.

The fire was reported around 2:30am Wednesday along Wellington Rd 23. The barn was engulfed in flames when Town of Erin Fire And Emergency Services arrived.

It was first reported that seven horses in the barn could not be saved, but investigators now say six horses were lost in the fire. The barn was destroyed, along with all the equipment inside. A damage estimate puts the losses at $1-million.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall has been notified and will assist Erin Fire And Emergency Services.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
