Theft Suspect Leads Police On Motorcycle Chase

Chatham-Kent police say a 52-year-old Dresden man is charged with dangerous driving and theft after a police chase in Chatham.

Officers say it started after they got a call about a man who was allegedly trying to steal ten SD cards from the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham early Wednesday morning.

Police say a security officer at the store confronted the man outside, but he allegedly took off on a motorcycle.

Officers say they tried to pull the man over as he was heading south on Prince Albert Rd., but at that point, he allegedly turned into a private driveway and drove through a grassy field.

Police say they were eventually able to pull the man over in the area of Communication Rd. and Colborne St.

Officers also say they found about $55 worth of stolen clothing on him that was taken from the Downtown Chatham Center.

The 52-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the case is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
