OPP Investigating Leamington Assault

The OPP says a woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following an assault in Leamington.

Police say on Friday at around 9:40pm, the OPP and Windsor-Essex EMS responded to an assault at a residence on Wigle St. in Leamington.

A 36-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 44-year-old man was arrested shortly after and remains in custody pending a bail hearing. He will be charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation.

The investigation is ongoing.

The OPP is asking that anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident contacts the Leamington OPP major crime unit at 519-326-2544.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
