Chatham-Kent police say a man's smartphone helped guide them to a suspect in a break and enter.

Police say on Thursday at around 10pm, officers responded to a fenced compound for a break and enter in progress.

The person who notified police was monitoring his security system remotely via his smartphone and was able to guide officers to the suspect.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was found and arrested. The suspect has also been charged with a break and enter into the same compound the night prior.

The man was held pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
