Compound Bow, Pellet Gun Were Reported Stolen

Chatham-Kent police say a compound bow and a pellet gun that officers found on a 28-year-old Chatham man over the weekend have both been returned to their rightful owner.

Police say they were recovered from a man who was allegedly carrying them on his back while he was biking on Spurgeon Dr. Sunday night. He was also allegedly carrying a backpack full of break-in tools.

Officers arrested the man and seized the bow and the gun when they learned that he was previously ordered not to have any have any weapons with him.

After hearing about the incident, a local resident called police to report that his compound bow and pellet gun had been stolen from his garage on McNaughton Ave. E.

Police say they were able to return the stolen items after confirming their rightful owner.

Officers say the man who is accused of stealing the bow and the pellet gun was re-arrested at the courthouse and charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
