Overpass To Close For Three Months

If you use Charing Cross Rd. to cross Hwy. 401, you'll soon need to find a different route.

The overpass will be closed from Wednesday, July 3 until Monday, October 1.

A Ministry of Transportation spokesperson tells BlackburnNews.com that the bridge will be closed while they patch the concrete, remove and reconstruct the concrete slope, and waterproof and pave the bridge deck and the approach slabs.

The work is a part of ongoing construction on the 401, which also includes the installation of high-tension cable barriers from Tilbury to Ridgetown.

Due to the rehabilitation of the bridge, there may be minor delays to the Inter-urban transit system.

The routes that will be affected are:

Route C – which runs from Chatham to Blenheim and Ridgetown Route D – which runs from Chatham to Cedar Springs, Dealtown, South Buxton, North Buxton, Merlin, and Tilbury Seasonal R1 (Beach bus) – which runs from Chatham to Mitchells Bay and Erieau

All posted transit stops will be maintained.
